Heather R. Hayes, LPC, CIP, CAI is known as one of the country’s most prominent authorities on the topics of addictions and other disorders, specializing in the treatment of adolescents/young adults, trauma, brain disorders, complex mental health issues, and the full spectrum of addictive disorders.
Ms. Hayes is a coveted speaker on the national and international stage. She has been published in numerous journals, books, and other industry publications. Recognized for her comprehensive and trauma-informed approach to addiction and intervention, Ms. Hayes serves as an on-air expert and consultant for CNN and Dr. Oz and has been featured on A&E, ABC, CBS, BBC, FOX, and NBC.
In addition, Ms. Hayes is a featured interventionist on the 2018 and 2019 seasons of A&E’s high profile television show Intervention. Outside of work, Heather uses her expertise to give back to her community as a volunteer psychological profiler with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department Hostage Negotiation and SWAT Team.

Sarah Hepola has appeared in the New York Times magazine, Texas Monthly, Elle, Bloomberg Businessweek, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, Slate, and Salon, where she was a longtime editor. She also contributes short personal essays to NPR’s Fresh Air.
Her first book, Blackout: Remembering The Things I Drank To Forget (Grand Central), was a New York Times bestseller. She is currently working on a memoir about women’s relationship to their own bodies, particularly around motherhood and sexuality, to be published by The Dial Press/Random House in 2020.

Jeff Jay is a clinical interventionist and co-author of Love First: A Family’s Guide to Intervention (with Debra Jay). He has been working full time in the alcohol and drug treatment field since 1986, including work for the Hazelden Foundation. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and is a Certified Addictions Professional and a Certified Intervention Professional.
He has appeared as an expert on CNN, PBS, and The Jane Pauley Show. He also serves on the board of the Association of Intervention Specialists. His latest book is Navigating Grace, a solo voyage of survival and redemption. Jeff specializes in difficult and complex interventions, including those complicated by psychological issues, such as anxiety disorders, bipolar disease, and trauma. His personal recovery from addiction dates from October 4, 1981.

Ann Brooks Martin is currently Director of Programs and Design for Awakenings Recovery. Awakenings Recovery includes Awakenings by the Sea in Seaside, Oregon and Awakenings Hill Country in Fredericksburg, Texas. Ann has worked with women, couples, and families affected by addictions for 30 years. She was a consultant creator and facilitator of workshops for The Betty Ford Center for 17 years. The workshops included a 5-day intensive relapse program, a Couples workshop, and a workshop designed for individuals looking at relationship issues. She maintained a private practice in Southern California for 22 years.
She is a Certified Imago Therapist and Workshop Presenter, a CADC II as well as a Certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. She also studied with Hal and Sidra Stone, doing Voice Dialogue facilitation. The last three years she has developed and designed the Women's Program for Awakenings Recovery in Oregon and Texas. Ann is recovering for over 32 years from heroin addiction, alcoholism, and bulimia.

John M. Talmadge, M.D. is a graduate of Dartmouth College and The Duke University School of Medicine. As a psychiatrist, he was among the first addiction specialists certified by both The American Society of Addiction Medicine, and by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
He was the founding Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship training program at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he continues to serve as an award-winning Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. As Senior Medical Advisor at The Center for BrainHealth and The Brain Performance Institute at The University of Texas at Dallas, he is designing programs in mindfulness meditation and positive psychology.
Dr. Talmadge has been clean and sober in personal recovery since 1983, giving him a valuable personal perspective on the addictions. Recognized as a skilled and compassionate clinician and therapist, he has extensive experience in treating mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, substance use disorders, alcoholism, and family problems. He and Dana Talmadge have been married for 40 years, and they are the proud parents of three children who are pursuing remarkable careers in international relations, education, medicine, and business.
Dr. John Talmadge is a grateful recovering physician and longtime member of the Solutions family. His signature introduction is: “I’m just an old drunk who managed to hang onto his medical license.”
Kimberly Dennis, MD is the Medical Director of Timberline Knolls Treatment Center in Lemont, Illinois, near Chicago. She is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorder treatment, addictions recovery, trauma / PTSD and co-occurring disorders. She is also in recovery from alcoholism and bulimia.
As CEO & Medical Director at Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, she supervises the medical staff and sets the overall vision and direction for the treatment program. Dr. Dennis maintains a holistic perspective in the practice of psychiatry. She incorporates biological, psycho-social and spiritual approaches into the individually tailored treatment plan for each resident.
Dr. Dennis is published in the areas of gender differences in the development of psychopathology, co-occurring eating disorders and self-injury, and the use of medication with family-based therapy for adolescents with anorexia nervosa. She is also on the editorial board of Eating Disorders: the Journal of Treatment and Prevention.
Dr. Dennis contributes regularly to news networks, such as ABC News and CNN, other national press such as the Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe and WebMD, and professional magazines such as Addiction Professional and Behavioral Healthcare. She contributes a monthly column to Daily Strength. She has been featured on the Dr. Phil Show, TLC Discovery Channel’s “My Strange Addiction” and ABC’s “20/20.” In 2011, she was featured in NORMAL in Schools' DVD "ED 101" and in the documentary "America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments."
Dr. Dennis received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago. She obtained her medical degree from the University Of Chicago Pritzker School Of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency training at the University of Chicago Hospitals, where she served as chief resident. During her training, she was part of the multi-disciplinary eating disorders team specializing in treating adolescents with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and their families. She also conducted research with Daniel Le Grange who directed the unit.
Tennie McCarty is the Founder of Shades of Hope, an all-inclusive treatment center that was established over 25 years ago. She has 35 years in the field of treating addictions. She is also the author of How To Treat Your Addiction To Food: Breaking the Cycle of Addiction and Stop the Endless Dieting. Tennie has been featured on “Addicted to Food” on OWN, Dr. Oz, Primetime Nightline, Ruby, and the Style Network.
On December 12, 2013, Lois was interviewed on ABC's affiliate WFAA Evening News about a teen's receiving long term treatment versus going to jail. The story later hit the national airwaves and was discussed on CNN and Anderson Cooper.
Lois is interviewed by Jim Ryan, Senior Reporter at WBAP Radio, about the Josh Hamilton story.

Solutions moves to a newer, nicer building at Dallas North Tollway & Lemmon Avenue

After being on North Central Expressway for eight years, Solutions Outpatient Services moved to a much newer, nicer building at the northwest corner of Dallas North Tollway overpass & Lemmon Avenue.
Several months before Solutions' lease expired, the next door tenant purchased Solutions' building for expansion. This gave Solutions an opportunity to relocate and better serve their clients.
We even have an enormous second floor private porch with a beautiful view of the sunsets! Please drop by and visit us.

Lois Jordan was the guest speaker for Murphy Day at Texas A&M-Commerce. Murphy Day was started 28 years ago to recognize and honor Dr. Harold D. Murphy for his fine professional contributions to the profession of counseling. Dr. Murphy was a former Department Head in the Department of Counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
The event has grown to become the best and most affordable opportunity for professional growth, stimulation, and continuing education for counselors and other human service workers in educational, agency, and business settings.

The 15th Anniversary Alumni & Friends Banquet was at the DoubleTree Hotel Dallas - Campbell Centre at 8250 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, Texas. The speaker was Candy Finnigan, a nationally recognized interventionist. Candy wrote When Enough is Enough: A Comprehensive Guide to Successful Intervention. She is also one of the renowned addiction specialists on the hit A&E series Intervention.
